Lessons from rocks

Lessons from rocks that spew hot water

I recently finished my first major solo road trip. I explored Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. My first looong drive alone and first time camping solo, I learned a lot on the road and in the woods.

Here are some of the top items I learned from rocks that spew hot water, inspired by geysers in Yellowstone.

  • How to let off steam - sometimes it’s graceful and sometimes it makes a mess

  • How to make people sit around and wait for you - I'm already really good at this one

  • You do you (and don’t care about anyone else’s perception)

  • Sometimes people only pay attention to things that make a scene (I don’t advocate for this one though)

  • Some people are "sedimentary" and won't budge, while others are "igneous" and explode with excitement

  • Stay grounded, but don't be afraid to roll with the punches

  • Take life’s challenges like a rock - one layer at a time

  • Not all rocks are gems, but every rock has a story to tell
